Football summer camps are a great choice for anyone who wants to prepare for the football season before it arrives. From high school and college players to younger ones who are just getting started, joining a camp for the summer helps you focus on improving your skills and honing your body. Whether you've kept fighting fit or you've been slacking off since last season, going to camp is sure to get you back into the game and ready for a brand new season. Take note of the following tips to ensure you're feeling at your best when it's time to get back to it for real.

Fuel Up

Good nutrition is always important if you want to be at peak physical fitness. You need to make sure that you're both eating enough and eating the right things. You need to be properly fueled up before doing any workouts, and no athlete should be skipping meals. However, you might have some personal nutrition requirements based on any fitness goals you might want to meet. As well as nutrition, sleep is also important if you want your body to handle you putting it through its paces. You need to get enough sleep if you want to have the energy keep going every day.

Craft Your Workouts

Your workouts before you go to camp should be balanced and allow you to work on different types of fitness. You might have some personal fitness goals, but be careful not to focus too much on any one thing. Cardio is good, but strength training, flexibility and agility are all important things to take into account too. Stamina and endurance will be important to your fitness during camp. You'll need to be able to withstand both long workouts and short and intense bursts of movement.

Stay Hydrated

It's vital to remember that you need to stay hydrated not just while working out but during any day, no matter what you're doing. Drinking plenty of water at camp is essential, but make sure you drink plenty of water before you leave for camp too. If you want to keep your body healthy, you need to take care of it all the time. Carrying a water bottle with you during the day, whatever you're doing, will encourage you to drink more - and it's better for the environment than buying a plastic bottle to drink from whenever you're thirsty.

Work on Speed and Agility

If you want to pick one area of fitness to pay particular attention to, working on your speed and agility is a good idea. Try using the acronym RAN to work on your speed: resistance (uphill), assistance (downhill) and normal (flat). Use footwork and change of direction drills to work on your agility. These are good to put into your warmups before you start working out properly. Agility ladders are a great tool to use if you want to improve your footwork.

Get football camp ready by starting a good fitness regime now. Once summer arrives, you'll be ready to really get started.
